The design is a representation of the transformation of life in a home for a matriarch and her daughter. This modern addition to a historic home makes a clear distinction between existing and new.
The design respects and pays homage to the existing Tudor and Colonial homes in this community, while creatively and sensitively complementing its legacy.
The proposed thermal mass wall on the south side of the building – while a sustainable solution – incorporates architectonics of the past home as well as the community.
BOLT’s solution humbly juxtaposes these elements into a symmetrical symphony. The 330 sq ft addition to the home received approval from the Landmark Preservation Committee and Design Commission.
